Tang Hong Kong Gourmet Food Tasting Session

Last Monday (14 May), a group of bloggers and I visited Tang Hong Kong Gourmet, located along some shophouses in Tanjong Pagar.

Warning: Do NOT attempt to find the place from Chinatown. Rachel and I had a hard time. Alight at Tanjong Pagar and it will take about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the station.

Tang Hong Kong Gourment is founded by celebrity chef Mr Benson Tong and is opened on 9 March 2012. He also makes appearance on air on every Tuesday from 10:30am to 11:30am, sharing on delicacies and tips on ways to cook local food.

By the name, you might think that it only offers Hong Kong cuisine. You are wrong. It offers from Chinese Hong Kong cuisine, to Singaporean cuisine and even to Western cuisine.

The dinner menu :)

Tang Authentic Hong Kong Roast Duck (Half) $25
As I'm writing this blog post, I'm yearning for a bite of this signature dish (even after lunch).
This roast duck is marinated with a special sauce, which produces such a mouth-watery taste.

A close up.
The duck skin is crisy and does not have much fat. I like ^^

Coconut Milk Prawn $12.90
It sounds weird since it has coconut, but in fact the sauce does go well with the prawns. A definite must to try :)

Pig Trotter $8.90
I think the taste is too strong to my liking, but to those who like the vinegar taste, it should be alright.

Pink Guava drink $1.50
My neighbour had this.

Water Chestnut with Sugar Cane drink $1.50
Honestly speaking, it is my first time having this drink :P

Tang Sweet & Spicy Fish Head (Seasonal)
I pretty much like the gravy and the fish blended well with it.

Spicy Deep Fry White Bait $6.90
Hoho, this is one of my favourites :) I kept picking this up. Ok, maybe because it looks like fries, but I like the flavouring :)
I would probably order this again the next time I visit the place.

Pork Chop
This was specially served to us like this, so it is usually served with rice.

Mr Benson Tong
He shared his experiences entering the industry, as well as his stall and the dishes.

A picture with the chef.

Double Boil White Fungi with Papaya
I like this kind of dessert, where the ingredients makes me feel like I'm eating vegetables, and I feel less sinful :P Ok, at least it is nutritious.

Complimentary of his friend :)

Group photo to end the session.

If you are one who can't decide where to have your meal at because there are so many cuisines offered in the market, why not visit this place for a change and who knows you might find something you will be addicted to? And the plus point is that it is affordable!
