Thanksgiving

Since everyone is into Thanksgiving, I shall be in too, even though this post might come a little late but it is at least better than nothing.

http://instagram.com/p/SYO4smOSrn/
Please tell me how my day/night can get any worser than standing & waiting for nearly an hour to get a 1-hour ride home for a bus driver to ignore & leave you in the heavy rain, like it wasn't already bad enough. All I want to do is cuddle under the blanket.

While I complain about the bus driver who ignored and left me in the rain, I was thankful for certain things.

I am thankful for the transport that can bring me to where I want to go. In certain places, transportation is really bad to the extent it is better to use your own feet as a mean of transportation.

I am thankful for the shelter that can block me from the different weather moods in Singapore. Some places don't even have shelter for their linkway, let alone their home.

I am thankful for the rain. Some places are facing drought or dehydration. But over here, it helps to bring down the temperature and is good for better sleep (at night) for someone who doesn't own any air conditioner at home.

I am thankful for my friends. If not for them, I would not be able to overcome such a big obstacle (it's probably the largest one ever).

Most importantly, I am thankful for my family. They are the ones who will always be there for you, both ups and downs in your life. And I will always be thankful that someone has always been waiting for me at home - at least I know that I have something to look forward to everyday.

Speaking of family, my mum, aunt and I visited Gardens By The Bay recently on Deepavali. The day started when we visited someone in the morning and visited Nex for lunch. After which, GBTB.

Family time ♥

It was my first time visiting the place and I was pretty excited/looking forward to it. The sad part is that I didn't bring camera and my phone was dying :(

http://instagram.com/p/R-bqrouSn8/
Phone died halfway, so this was pretty much what I took. I still can't believe I went through the skywalk.

Not a fan of heights, my legs went jelly at the cloud trail. I was pulling my aunt's shirt and holding on tightly to my mum's arms. LOL I am never going to enjoy those rides at amusement parks.

Following the next few days, it was my mum's and bro's birthday.

I came home at 8 after a short run with the colleagues & decided to head out to buy food for dinner (since there was not much food at home) instead of calling for delivery. I thought I would take just 1/2 hour but all the walking and travelling take up most of the time.

Happy birthday to le mum & bro ♥

It was the first time I tried BreadTalk Macha Macha and I'm not a fan of it, because I don't really like the heavy taste. Nevertheless, I bought it under recommendation.

Le mum & aunt ♥

I had class the next day, so I...

Came home to crab bee hoon & milk after 2 presentations tonight. All hardwork & sacrifices finally paid off. Let the mugging begin... tomorrow! TV & dinner-supper for now hehe.

I feel so loved. Even though it was left-over, they kept some food for me :)

Few days ago, the day after thanksgiving day, we went for breakfast. Weekend breakfast is loved because weekends are probably the only days we can spend the entire day together. To start it right, breakfast is important too.

Awesome breakfast with the loved ones ♥

Finally get to try the breakfast with bacon slices. Nothing much special though. Nonetheless, it was great.

While I have school work/studies to do, I treasure and value each minute spent together. This is just one way I give thanks and be grateful to them.

GCMA + All in a day (Crocs, Frankenweenie, Marche)

Long title. GCM on 2 November & All in a day on 12 December 2012.

--

I decided to try my luck at the contest for 12th Global Chinese Music Awards 2012, and to my surprise, I actually won a pair to the awards! I sent my phone for repair that week, so I couldn't message but call my partner up for it & I didn't get to take any photos too.

That night, I got to see many artistes *star struck* and saw few of my favourite ones like Rainie Yang & Della (Ding Dang). Weee~ One of talks of the night was probably thanking JJ's parents, and it was hilarious.

I didn't think I would win the pair in the beginning because I reckon many would want/like to attend this event since it is held in different countries every year. Anyway, it was a great night with the babe!

--

The day before Deepavali, I had a short date with Rachel.

Before we caught the movie, we visited the outlet nearest to Cineleisure, Plaza Singapura, to collect our Crocs shoes. (Both of us were very lucky to have won a pair from Joey's blog giveaway - so destined.)

I was excited to collect and get my shoes because it was going to be my first pair of Crocs shoes! (I know you are going to judge me now.)

http://instagram.com/p/R7VYV3OSmc/
Collected Crocs shoes that @rachelays and I won from @iisjong blog :) hehe

Woohoo I got the Women’s LoPro Full Vamp Canvas Slip-on Sneaker in Glam Pink/Ultraviolet while the babe got it in Yellow/Light Grey. I almost wanted to get it in White/Fuchsia since I wanted a white slip-on, but decided to go for the pink instead.

I have been wearing these pair out for the past weekends & I really like it. It adds a little to my height plus the footbed makes me feet feel more comfortable - I secretly think that it helps to circulate blood.

After which, we rushed to Frankenweenie movie premiere. For someone who does not watch horror shows at all, I was actually afraid to catch movies that are in black and white. But I went in with a different feeling that the movie will be good since it is story about love.

http://instagram.com/p/R7nS0FOSum/
"When you lose someone you love, they never really leave you. He'll always be in your heart." "No! I don't want him to be in my heart. I want him to be here with me." - Frankenweenie

It was indeed a touching story, so touching that I teared at least 3 times throughout the movie, or perhaps I related myself to the characters in the movie.

Anyway, spoiler mood on. I thought the movie was not very complete. I had few thoughts when it ended but I forgot all except one LOL. I thought since the mayor hates the boy, he would do something to the boy or his pet, but he didn't do anything at all during the climate.

After movie, I wanted to get KFC Cheese Fries (There was this smell in the theatre, which make me crave for it.) but we went for McDonald's for her craved fried chicken. And we ended up in Marche for desserts -.-

I told her "No wonder they said that the friends you hang out with do matter, because they will affect your food intake too." Eating is a joy though.

http://instagram.com/p/R7rsdNOShK/
After a round of shared McDonalds meal with @rachelays, there is always room for dessert.
Banana crepe with chocolate sauce - I wanted strawberries! I am a fan of their chocolate-covered strawberries heheh. For every 3 times I visited Marche, I would order it at least twice. #dietfail

So that pretty much sums up my date with Rachel :)

Things happened and I am so glad that I have BFF and good close friends with me at this timing. It is difficult but I'm taking things slowly, one at a time. I know they want me to be well (not that I am sick or what). I just need time to adjust myself.

Xin Wang WEE OWLS

What happens when you need a feast in the middle of the night?
When all shops are closed. When you do not want to go for fast food.

Yes, you didn't see wrongly.
Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe has extended their opening hours till 4am for 13 out of its 16 outlets! Awesome! Now you can satisfy your late night craving and enjoy your late night dining at the nearest outlet.

On 4 October, we were invited to the feasting at one of their open-till-4am outlets, Marina Square.

*Images from Xin Wang Facebook
The drinks prepared pre-hand before we arrived. Of course, I went for their famous Hong Kong milk tea :P

If bubble tea has been a craving for you, you have got to try this milk tea.

Little things for us to camwhore with.

I like the pinkie owl.

The girls at our table with our membership card ^^

There was a contest that night and we had to post photos on their Facebook page or/and on Twitter/Instagram with their hashtag. Get some creative juices and start posting on Facebook/Twitter because one from each platform with the most creative caption wins!

Rachel photobomb-ed me about 5 times and we didn't take proper photos together that night :(

I can't help but need to post this up. Hello HP!

Brad, aka Lady Iron Chef.

Maureen, aka Miss Tam Chiak.

*Image from Xin Wang Facebook
I like this candid shot. And what exactly were we doing?
.
.
.

We were playing charades and we were trying to guess the food that the person was trying to tell us. Super epic and funny.

We were all quite famished and our table was the only one without food when the emcee already stopped for "supper" time :( (since some of us didn't have any dinner)

Finally the food arrived! I specially like curry noodles with chicken cutlet and seafood hor fun. I didn't try all, because when all the dishes came, we were all rather full from the first few dishes.

I was trying my luck for the contest, but I did not win. Anyway, fried chicken with crackers looked very tempting that night when I just had my weekly run with the colleagues.

We also had a jigsaw puzzle session and it was pretty difficult but Rachel and I managed to complete it, even though we were not the first. Perseverance is key :)

The 2 different puzzles.
Actually the key to completing the puzzle is to form the outline but look at this outlet - all the pieces are of the same colour, so it adds another level to the difficulty.

Dessert time!
I think mango desserts are rather popular everywhere and the refreshing dessert is becoming one of my favourites too, especially mango dessert with ice cream and mango snow ice with ice cream.

2 professionals being serious at work of taking photo of the mango dessert.

2D1N Genting (Day 2)

Read about my 2D1N Genting (Day 1) here!

Time flies and it was already day 2 and we all look forward to the highlight of the trip!

I planned to wake up at 7am because I wanted to bathe - I am always the first one to wake up and do the necessary before waking my roomie up, but I overslept till 7.40am (notbad.jpg) and hurried because...

When Jayne & Gabby said to have breakfast at 8am, I literally thought we need to meet for breakfast at 8am -.- when in fact, we could go anytime as long as we need to gather by 9/9.15am for SnowWorld.

...lol in the end, we turned up for breakfast at about 8.20am. We were not the latest anyway.

"Yellow breakfast. http://instagr.am/p/QLiDDfOSkY/"
The breakfast provided at First World Hotel, known as World Club Lounge, wasn't very appetizing and has few offerings (What do you expect, Xue Ling?) I miss making eggy bread when I first saw it! I will make that soon, trust me.

The most exciting event of the trip: SnowWorld. FINALLY.

Nope, we didn't read the terms and entered into the contract. Wow, it is -8 degree Celsius.

This is what bloggers do when they are waiting: Camwhore.

My 2 hang-outs of the entire trip: Tiffany & Ann.
So good to see familiar faces for this trip!

I spammed lots of hydrating moisturizer to prepare for the cold weather but it got really dry on the surface :(

Getting the jacket, boots and gloves! I didn't manage to get M or L, but had to use the XL/XXL one. Everyone is so small, ok lah, I think I can even fit into S since those are big in size :P

Group photo! All prepped up to get in :)
My camera wasn't used because everyone wanted a photo in theirs (you know bloggers?). There are more than 10 cameras for Jayne, Gabby and the sponsors to help us take eh.

Explaining in the freezer what the different games that they planned for us. So, we were all divided in five teams under: Ben, Randy, Sophie, Melissa and Silver.

Game 1: Complete the 4 different tasks.
Task 1: Find a crew to carry/piggyback anyone in the group and take photo.
Task 2: Find a kid, make the kid kiss 2 members of your group and take photographs of it.
Task 3: Find someone who is wearing spectacles and take a group photo with him/her.
(That person cannot be form your group.)
Task 4: Make a snowman as a group and take a photo of it.

Task 1: Find a crew to carry/piggyback anyone in the group and take photo.
COMPLETED.

Task 2: Find a kid, make the kid kiss 2 members of your group and take photographs of it.
Awww, he reminds of the cute boy boy from UP. I know the 2nd one is blur but they looked so cute and blissful.

Task 3: Find someone who is wearing spectacles and take a group photo with him/her.
This one, easy peasy. I didn't manage to grab a shot though, or maybe I did but the entire image was blur.

Opps, caught aware. Making snowman in progress.

Hello Team Melissa:
Melissa, Jasmine, Melissa, Tiffany, me.

"SnowWorld this morning with @melisapro and group ♥ won the first round despite the freezing condition ^^ http://instagr.am/p/QMBX_UuSlE/"
Yup, we won the first game!

We were all gathered in the igloo for some warmth and for the start of the 2nd game.

Game 2: Find all 15 hearts hidden in the entire themepark. The team with the most number of hearts wins!
We went running up and down searching and I only managed to get one. But it got lost and I didn't manage to have it back :(

*Image downloaded from Nuffnang Facebook
Game 3: Grab a big snowball and hit your enemies. The one who is hit will not move to the next round.
We only played one round and the time was up! Why does time fly so fast?! We didn't get the chance to play the slide :( and we had to get out because the session was over.

This was how my camera captured images when it just got out of the freezer :( Nonetheless, team Melissa won the first game and walked away with a backpack and notebook.

Note to self: get a camera strap or buy a new camera, so that your movement will not in the way because you are holding on to the camera all the time.

After all the fun, we had to prepare for checkout at 12pm :( We had our lunch at the lobby after our checkout.

The different food that were ready when we got there.

Something hilarious happened to Ann and I. Since our meals were provided, we thought that what we were given were all displayed on the table and we had to pay the rest, so we got ourselves a salad to share and some drinks. We were wrong! Oh mine, so the sponsors told us to pack many food back to cover the costs (we paid), since it was not possible for them to help us get the money back. Oh well.

So Ann and I went to pack 2-3 boxes of cupcakes (each box can hold about 3 cupcakes) back. And I didn't even try any at all :( I think my brother ate them all. And no photos too - most got squashed when they got home from the 6/7/8-hour journey. Anyway, many of them also did the same way and the display was pretty empty because all were swept away by the huge group of us :P Anyway, thanks for letting us pack some home!

Half way, we stopped at a local products store to buy some local prodcuts (duh, what am I talking about?) It was so crowded - I think most of them came from KL/Genting, since the checkout time was around that timing.

At about 6pm, we reached Yong Peng again, for dinner. And I finally got this kaya balls wahaha. One reason is because I was broke already LOL. Another is I want to have them! SATISFIED!

I thought the journey from Yong Peng to Malaysian Custom was quite short, but the driver took relatively long. What I heard was that he went a big round :( We could have reached home half-to-one hour earlier. But the driver was nice enough to drop us at Taman Jurong for the person staying in the West.

So here are my buys! I find myself buying lots of food when I travel, because I want to bring them home for my family. I don't mean I travel a lot but if I have the chance, I will get for them, since we rarely travel.

Even though it was an ultra-short break, I still enjoyed it, having not to think about what has been/is going on in Singapore. (Ok I still think since it is not possible to completely not remember.) I think I deserve this break and probably more in due time. Meanwhile, I just want to get those stuff over with as soon as possible.

Once again, thank you Nuffnang and Resort World Genting for the sponsored trip and the mini getaway!
