Movie Synopsis:
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).
Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.
Directed by Mark Andrews (“The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “John Carter of Mars”) and Brenda Chapman (“The Lion King,” “Prince of Egypt”), and produced by Katherine Sarafian (“Lifted,” “The Incredibles”), “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film opens in Singapore theaters on 8 August 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

In most movies, it is most of the times, males are the heros, saving the day etc. Enough of heros for a while, females can be brave and adventurous as well, just like the upcoming movie, Disney • Pixar’s BRAVE.
I believe everyone has a heroine in their life. She is the person who affects and impacts on your life. So, who is your heroine?
My heroine in my life has got to be...
My mother
I think a mother's love is one of the greatest love anyone can receive. (Perhaps it is because I am a Cancerian and a Cancer woman is a loving mum. LOL)
Well, one of the bravest thing my mother did is to give birth to me. Can you imagine a woman having a baby for nine months? I mean the baby actually disrupts a woman's life and she has to sacrfice lots of thing for the baby. The great love.
And what about giving birth with lots of pain in a few hours? Nope, if you don't have a baby, you don't know how pain that is. Neither do I. But the thought of it actually makes me think that the pain is unbearable. I think for the love of the baby/child, any woman will go through this 'torture'.
In that few hours of giving birth, anything could have happened. Nothing is 100% accurate. Everything has its own risk. Lots of blood lost in the process could have resulted in death *touchwood*. Well, we survived. Thanks to my mum's perserverance. That's why I believe that very moment is one of her bravest act to me.
Having a child is definitely not easy. Watching me cry, eat, sleep and grow up, I believe to my parents, it is a sense of satisfaction. So I told myself that I need to filial to both of them, for what they have sacrificed and provided for me.
We are our parents' blood. They wouldn't want us to turn bad and destroy our future. "You only live once." But in certain situations, we do not wish that our parents interfere with our future too much that our future turns out to be one that we do not like/wish to have.
After all, this is our own life. It is between chasing after what you dream/want and doing what your parents want you to do. Not so much in my case, but there should be a balance.
But in BRAVE, Merida chose to go against tradition and choose a fate of her own! “If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?”
Well, I think I would. I might say I would now, but who can really predict the future?
