Wreck-It Ralph

Movie Synopsis
Walt Disney Animation Studios and Emmy®-winning director Rich Moore (TV’s “The Simpsons,” “Futurama”) take moviegoers on a hilarious, arcade-game-hopping journey in “Wreck-It Ralph.” Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly, “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” “Step Brothers”) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (voice of Jack McBrayer, “30 Rock”), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voice of Jane Lynch, TV’s “Glee”) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman, “The Sarah Silverman Program”) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late? “Wreck-It Ralph” crashes onto the big screen on December 20, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

A highly-anticipated (ok at least to me) movie is coming to you soon this Thursday, 20 December! I have always loved Disney "cartoon" movies, especially movie like this. Not because of the fiction or fairy tale, but most of the times, it teaches me something.

What are the games and characters in the movie?

Fix-It Felix, Junior
Hero's Duty
Sugar Rush

Guess what happens when 3 different games come together? & below are the 5 characters which I thought make the entire story (of course there are more). I think you will know which game the character is from, given the background.

WRECK-IT RALPH
Bad Guys Finish Last

Ralph is a heavy-handed wrecking' riot with a heart. For 30 years—day in, day out—he's been doing his job as “The Bad Guy” in the arcade game Fix-it Felix, Jr.
FIX-IT FELIX, JR.
The All-Around Good Guy

Felix is the popular star of Fix-It Felix, Jr. and Niceland's hammer-wielding maintenance man who's beloved by all.
SGT. CALHOUN
One Mean Space Marine

In the sci-fi battle zone of Hero's Duty, Sergeant Calhoun is more than just a pretty face—she is the tough-as-nails, take-charge leader who fights for humanity's freedom.
VANELLOPE VON SCHWEETZ
Hard Candy

Known as "The Glitch," Vanellope is a pixelating programming mistake in the candy-coated cart-racing game Sugar Rush.
KING CANDY
King of All That’s Sweet

All hail King Candy—ruler of the race track, captain of confectionary, sovereign of sugar.

Who do you think is my favourite game character?

VANELLOPE VON SCHWEETZ

Well if you know me enough, you will know that I will choose her. Every movie has this little adorable character, like Boo in Monster Inc or Agnes in Despicable Me. This movie is no exception. So does that mean I like the other two as well? YES. (If you realise, these girls are always in small sizes & the guys are larger.) She looks so sweet and cute plus her high pony tail is attractive.

& I'm so jealous of her. Look, this cutie lives in candy island in the game "Sugar Rush"!

Oh sweet paradise. Perhaps not to her since she face it everyday. But I wish I can go into this "heaven" to experience it. I want a chocolate pool too! Guess what? There's red velvet (cup)cake and many more.

What are my thoughts for the movie?

IT IS A MUST-WATCH! For people (like me) who likes "cartoon", I really enjoy the movie. I must say it really met my expectations or even better than I thought. The story is well-thought.

It is something that I have never thought of before this. Like Rachel said, I won't be seeing arcades the same way as before again, but not like we always visited it.

Well it taught us one thing that badies might not want to be bad after all. They are probably who they are and what they do. Maybe to better understand, just know that if they are no bad peeps in this world, there won't be any good ones either.

The movie included comedy, romance and action, plus the fact that it is animation, which I thought was pretty suitable for the entire family.

Catch the trailer & you will know why I am so excited upon knowing the movie is coming soon!

What is after the movie?

After watching the movie, I really feel like playing Wreck-It Ralph!

But the movie does not just stop here because...

Participate in Candy Cane Catapult on Disney Studios Singapore Facebook page - Achieve high scores & stand to win exclusive Wreck-It Ralph movie premiums!

I just had my try at the game and oh mine, I was so close to winning (that is to get the gold medal), but that little rascal appeared and pushed "me" down :( My highest score is 6000+ (which I forgot to screenshot), which is relatively low as compared to the top scorers. One thing to note: act fast! Well, they say "practice makes perfect", so I shall play again!

You can help to build the Candilicious Xmas tree with the accumulated distance points! Now that I have more points (since I kept "failing" the mission), I can put more candies onto the tree.

The festive season is here, so why not take some time off to catch this movie with your loved ones? I'm sure you will like it as much as I do (that is if you have been waiting for this).

GCMA + All in a day (Crocs, Frankenweenie, Marche)

Long title. GCM on 2 November & All in a day on 12 December 2012.

--

I decided to try my luck at the contest for 12th Global Chinese Music Awards 2012, and to my surprise, I actually won a pair to the awards! I sent my phone for repair that week, so I couldn't message but call my partner up for it & I didn't get to take any photos too.

That night, I got to see many artistes *star struck* and saw few of my favourite ones like Rainie Yang & Della (Ding Dang). Weee~ One of talks of the night was probably thanking JJ's parents, and it was hilarious.

I didn't think I would win the pair in the beginning because I reckon many would want/like to attend this event since it is held in different countries every year. Anyway, it was a great night with the babe!

--

The day before Deepavali, I had a short date with Rachel.

Before we caught the movie, we visited the outlet nearest to Cineleisure, Plaza Singapura, to collect our Crocs shoes. (Both of us were very lucky to have won a pair from Joey's blog giveaway - so destined.)

I was excited to collect and get my shoes because it was going to be my first pair of Crocs shoes! (I know you are going to judge me now.)

http://instagram.com/p/R7VYV3OSmc/
Collected Crocs shoes that @rachelays and I won from @iisjong blog :) hehe

Woohoo I got the Women’s LoPro Full Vamp Canvas Slip-on Sneaker in Glam Pink/Ultraviolet while the babe got it in Yellow/Light Grey. I almost wanted to get it in White/Fuchsia since I wanted a white slip-on, but decided to go for the pink instead.

I have been wearing these pair out for the past weekends & I really like it. It adds a little to my height plus the footbed makes me feet feel more comfortable - I secretly think that it helps to circulate blood.

After which, we rushed to Frankenweenie movie premiere. For someone who does not watch horror shows at all, I was actually afraid to catch movies that are in black and white. But I went in with a different feeling that the movie will be good since it is story about love.

http://instagram.com/p/R7nS0FOSum/
"When you lose someone you love, they never really leave you. He'll always be in your heart." "No! I don't want him to be in my heart. I want him to be here with me." - Frankenweenie

It was indeed a touching story, so touching that I teared at least 3 times throughout the movie, or perhaps I related myself to the characters in the movie.

Anyway, spoiler mood on. I thought the movie was not very complete. I had few thoughts when it ended but I forgot all except one LOL. I thought since the mayor hates the boy, he would do something to the boy or his pet, but he didn't do anything at all during the climate.

After movie, I wanted to get KFC Cheese Fries (There was this smell in the theatre, which make me crave for it.) but we went for McDonald's for her craved fried chicken. And we ended up in Marche for desserts -.-

I told her "No wonder they said that the friends you hang out with do matter, because they will affect your food intake too." Eating is a joy though.

http://instagram.com/p/R7rsdNOShK/
After a round of shared McDonalds meal with @rachelays, there is always room for dessert.
Banana crepe with chocolate sauce - I wanted strawberries! I am a fan of their chocolate-covered strawberries heheh. For every 3 times I visited Marche, I would order it at least twice. #dietfail

So that pretty much sums up my date with Rachel :)

Things happened and I am so glad that I have BFF and good close friends with me at this timing. It is difficult but I'm taking things slowly, one at a time. I know they want me to be well (not that I am sick or what). I just need time to adjust myself.

Frankenweenie

Tim Burton is back with his latest masterpiece filmed in BLACK & WHITE!
A stop-motion film about a young boy with his "dead" beloved pet.

*Image retrieved from Cathay Cineplexes Singapore & NuffnangSG respectively.

Movie synopsis:
*Image retrieved from NuffnangSG.

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D. The talented voice cast includes: Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder.

Presented by Disney, “Frankenweenie” is directed by Tim Burton, produced by Tim Burton and Allison Abbate, from a screenplay by John August, based on an original idea by Tim Burton.

Trailer:

To me, a pet is like another human being, another loved one. There will be love and bonds built over a period of time spent together, especially he/she is someone whom you see and spent time with everyday. I'm sure you will definitely feel the great difference should the pet passed away.

So what lengths will you go to keep your favourite pet by your side forever?

Nobody says it is going to be easy to let things go and let the deceased pass on and we have to move on with our lives. It is never easy. I will definitely grieve over the death of the loved one. I also start to blame myself for not spending more quality time with him/her even though as much as I know, he/she won't blame you for what you have done. I know that I cannot go back to the past, so the only thing I should and could do is to move on.

However, if I have the ability (that is if I am a scientist/genius), I will build a time machine.

*Image retrieved from Google search.
I will travel back to the past and spend more time with the loved one. I will also probably stop the incident (death) from happening. Or keep rewinding time to the past to spend more time together. I will relive all the precious and important moments in my life. *Deja vu* You may argue that I will then not treasure every single second and minute spent together. No, you are wrong. Cancerians are family lovers. We value kinship more than our lives.

Alternatively, to let the deceased go peacefully, I am willing to let him/her go than to see him/her suffer and blame himself/herself for not being useful if he/she would be happy that way. Deep down I know, it is not very easy to let go since he/she have been with me for the longest time since I remember.

*Image retrieved from Google search.
Thus, to keep him/her, the heart is probably the best place. I will keep and carry the things he/she left for me so that I will always remember him/her for his/her love and more.

I choose to believe that each death occurred in this universe means a new birth/life in another universe, hoping that each pain ends here will bring happiness and joy in others' faces.

Nothing is forever "forever" anyway. But if "forever" ever exists, I would probably choose the same family or him/her to be part of the family again the next life.

BRAVE movie premiere

A little backdated but the movie is still not out yet. Coming soon~

Thanks to Nuffnang - I won a pair of tickets to BRAVE movie premiere on Sunday 22 July!

The mini carnival, which has some mini games, like tug of war and archery.

I'm not sure what the guy was saying, some Scottish traditions I think. And the guy plays this instrument very well. Quite loud though.

And I went to try the archery. Of course, not real one, but I got to experience it via Wii. I think using Wii is easier.

The photobooth which forever has long queue. We managed to queue when it was shorter. But it got long not long after.

*Grabbed from Disney Studios Singapore FB page
My partner of the day, Jolyn.
Sadly only one copy was printed though. Oh well.

*Grabbed from Disney Studios Singapore FB page

Overall, it is a family-friendly movie. It talks about the love between the daughter and the mother. And I think it really reflects the society. I actually teared quite a bit in this, perhaps thinking that your mother/father won't be at your side forever *touchwood* so value and treat your parents well now!

BRAVE

Movie Synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In “Brave,” a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).

Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Directed by Mark Andrews (“The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “John Carter of Mars”) and Brenda Chapman (“The Lion King,” “Prince of Egypt”), and produced by Katherine Sarafian (“Lifted,” “The Incredibles”), “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and the signature Pixar humor enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The film opens in Singapore theaters on 8 August 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

In most movies, it is most of the times, males are the heros, saving the day etc. Enough of heros for a while, females can be brave and adventurous as well, just like the upcoming movie, Disney • Pixar’s BRAVE.

I believe everyone has a heroine in their life. She is the person who affects and impacts on your life. So, who is your heroine?

My heroine in my life has got to be...
My mother

I think a mother's love is one of the greatest love anyone can receive. (Perhaps it is because I am a Cancerian and a Cancer woman is a loving mum. LOL)

Well, one of the bravest thing my mother did is to give birth to me. Can you imagine a woman having a baby for nine months? I mean the baby actually disrupts a woman's life and she has to sacrfice lots of thing for the baby. The great love.

And what about giving birth with lots of pain in a few hours? Nope, if you don't have a baby, you don't know how pain that is. Neither do I. But the thought of it actually makes me think that the pain is unbearable. I think for the love of the baby/child, any woman will go through this 'torture'.

In that few hours of giving birth, anything could have happened. Nothing is 100% accurate. Everything has its own risk. Lots of blood lost in the process could have resulted in death *touchwood*. Well, we survived. Thanks to my mum's perserverance. That's why I believe that very moment is one of her bravest act to me.

Having a child is definitely not easy. Watching me cry, eat, sleep and grow up, I believe to my parents, it is a sense of satisfaction. So I told myself that I need to filial to both of them, for what they have sacrificed and provided for me.

We are our parents' blood. They wouldn't want us to turn bad and destroy our future. "You only live once." But in certain situations, we do not wish that our parents interfere with our future too much that our future turns out to be one that we do not like/wish to have.

After all, this is our own life. It is between chasing after what you dream/want and doing what your parents want you to do. Not so much in my case, but there should be a balance.

But in BRAVE, Merida chose to go against tradition and choose a fate of her own! “If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?”

Well, I think I would. I might say I would now, but who can really predict the future?

Marvel’s The Avengers

Plot Outline:

Marvel Studios presents “Marvel’s The Avengers”—the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since. Prepare yourself for an exciting event movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects, when “Marvel’s The Avengers” assemble in May 2012.

Even though I didn't catch all the avengers previously, but I roughly know what they have done.

So, my favourite Avengers superhero is...

Black Widow

Even though she is the only female in the Avengers team, she is a top secret agent and skilled assassin, who is not afraid of anything. I really admire and like her attitude.

I've heard many superheros are male, but I always like a female superhero. Who says a female cannot be a superhero? You go, girl!

Gorgeous, isn't she?

The Hunger Games

I woke up early in the morning on 21 March to go to Bugis to meet people to head to Simei ITE.

Ok, I admit I regretted agreeing her to be her hair model when I woke up at 5.45am. Siao right, for someone who seldom wakes up so early during the holidays. But I also have to admit I was glad to help her out. I had a nice haircut though :) My first time as a hair model.

I had this haircut called Natural Inversion which is the combination of One Length and Forward Graduation, basically in simple terms, Layered hair.

Mel, senior hair stylist from Toni & Guy.

Oh did I mention the hair studio/salon classroom was fabulous? It is really like a real salon.

After the haircut, I headed back home from the east all the way to the west to rest before the evening date with my partner, Rachel.

This is taken at home. My eyes were weird for the one taken in salon. Yes, I only took one.

My date with Rachel in the evening started with dinner and camwhore session.
Rachel recently had a new camera Canon G1X and we took many crazy ones.

One of the normal ones.

Those are the few of my favourite ones.

Even though we were not shortlisted for the competition, we were still invited for The Hunger Games Gala Premiere as we were one of the top 85! *Hurray* I didn't think that there were so many invdividuals/teams who registered for the competition.

I had been waiting for the movie since last year, ever since the trailer was broadcast in the movie theatre.

As much as I don't want to be a spoiler, I want to voice my thoughts.

I just don't get the fightings. Ok, for tribute, but I believe there are other ways to pay your tributes. But by sacrificing people's lives? This is really cruel, killing one another. Another thing, poverty. Really the cruel side of life. The poor works for hard to survive while the rich enjoy all the food and stuff.

Somehow the movie taught us all valuable stuff. Survival. In life, we fight for things, just for one place.

Coming up next: Grand Cruise with bloggers~ There will also be exciting deals for you to look out for! Remember to check back!

I'm back!

For the first and last time in my poly life, I actually did a creative report using photoshop -.- Creativity takes up 20% of the report grade, so I guess I should put in more effort, given that that is a 8-credit module right?

& so, poly ended on 24 February 11am after my last paper. I am unofficially graduated.
I was literally counting the number of hours to the last paper (the first countdown was 36 hours).

Movie date with classmates after our last paper.

THIS MEANS WAR
It is really really good. I would recommend to catch it, but I don't get why it is not NC16 or M18. Just warning to those who want to catch it. Really a good laugh for those who wants to distress.

--

On a side note,
I'm attending Nuffnang's 5th Birthday Bash tomorrow! *throw confetti*

*Image extracted from Nuffnang.

Initially I thought the contest would end on Friday 12pm, and I didn't want to comment before my last paper (duh, I don't want people to know that I'm online and I wasn't online on Thursday at all -.-) but it was extended to Saturday 12pm. Hoho, I commented right after I got home from the movie date with my classmates.

#Nuffnangis5 #happybirthdayNuffnang

It has been a great time since being a Nuffnang blogger since 2007. I believe many (perhaps all) of us have witnessed how social media have evolved over the past 5 to 10 years. Nuffnang FTW ♥

I think I will do a post on my braces soon :)
